About ROSS TUFFBOND

Early Days :

The ROSS Tuffbond company has its beginnings in the man Ross Clothier C.E.O. who has been the driving force behind the company's evolution and success since its inception in 1981.

A qualified Mechanical Engineer, Ross Clothier is the colourful character behind ROSS Tuffbond who started out in the NSW Railways workshop in 1966 as a Fitter & Machinist, joined the Sydney Water Police, and then combined the two by producing handbuilt speed boat parts in the early '70's. From there Ross moved into a maintenance job at a rubber factory, where he was led into designing Harmonic Balancers which wouldn't slip when used on race engines.

Eventually Ross decided to take a punt and go it alone and setting up his own business known as Rosco Marine Services in 1981. Now able to apply his knowledge to his own designs, Ross went about designing and developing a rubber bonding technique for standard O.E.M. harmonic balancers / crank pulley dampers - specifically designed for use in Australia. Specifically designed for marine boats and race cars, the company's name evolved into ROSS Racing and through the marketing of the REPCO organisation the business grew which lead to the business expanding by designing components for the transport and bus sector from 1993 onwards.

The ROSS Racing business grew to incorporate more and more of the transport and bus components, aswell as the existing automotive range of harmonic balancers / crank pulley dampers before too long, another name change was in order. This time, the company would become known as ROSS Tuffbond. Today, ROSS Tuffbond business has grown into the largest and most respected manufacturer of harmonic balancers / crank pulley dampers, truck and bus components in all of Sydney. Producing components for the transport sector now on a daily basis, including; suspension parts, engine pulleys, oil coolers & engine intercoolers, while continuing with the development and manufacturing of harmonic balancers.

The Present And The Future :

The future certainly looks bright for ROSS Tuffbond, as a business and as a team. We have streamlined our product range to include more Transport Sector components while maintaining our line of Harmonic Balancers / Crank Pulley Dampers for the Automotive Sector. From our steady growth over the years, we realise more and more that much of our future will be defined by our engineering innovation. While maintaining our high standards in manufacturing, we'll continue to provide a friendly and practical customer service. The hard work put in by Ross Clothier in building the business has filtered through the company and shows up in the demeanors of all our workings who strive to deliver the best product and service available.

It's through this great work edict that enables ROSS Tuffbond and all of it's employees to aspire to become the biggest and the best manufacturer of Harmonic Balancers / Crank Pulley Dampers, Bus and Truck Components this side of the Great Divide - that is, in Sydney. While some company's may become rigid and insensitive towards the needs of their customers, our aim is to maintain our high level of service and where possible to improve our company and workplace to better service our customers.
